HKAC Archi-talk series: "Marine Lots and the land grants of the early dates in Hong Kong"

HKAC is honored to invite Sr Leung Shou Chun, the Principal Government Land Surveyor (now re-titled as the Deputy Director / Mapping and Surveying) to give us an overview of Hong Kong's land history, and the importance of land in Hong Kong and its impacts.

The main points of the talk include the events leading to the ceding of Hong Kong Island; surveying and mapping activities around the time of ceding; the landing in Hong Kong by the British and the early land sales; the forthcoming of the marine lots, subsequent development and the foreshore reclamation, etc.

The talk will be held on two consecutive Saturdays at Legacy Hall, Central Market. Don't miss the chance to join us!

Introduction of speaker:

Sr Leung Shou Chun has been working in the land surveying industry for 66 years out of which 56 years in a professional capacity. He joined Government in 1956 as a technician and retired in 1996 as the Principal Government Land Surveyor (now re-titled as the Deputy Director / Mapping and Surveying).

Since then, he established his own Land Surveying Consultant Firm and started his private practice for the last 26 years. He has been the President of the former Hong Kong Institute of Land Surveyors (subsequently amalgamated with the HKIS), the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the President of the Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology, an Adjunct Professor of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Chairman of the Alliance of Authorized Land Surveyors. He has been a regular writer in the local newspapers on land and surveying matters and have published 3 books on the same subjects.
