Ar John Wong Po Lung
WONG, Po Lung John is a past president of The Hong Kong Institute of Architects and a practising architect with over 40 years of professional experience. He studied architecture at the University of Hong Kong, carried out postgraduate research on lightweight surface structures at the Universität Stuttgart, Germany, under the supervision of renowned architect Professor Frei Otto, and graduated with a master degree at the University of Toronto, Canada.
After returning to Hong Kong, John took up fulltime teaching in the Department of Architecture, University of Hong Kong, until the early 1980s and then entered into fulltime private practice. He has worked on a number of residential, commercial and institutional projects, both in Hong Kong and mainland China. Since 2016, he has been teaching in the Department of Architecture, HKU, as visiting professor and adjunct associate professor. His main interests include history of architecture and architectural literature.
